Long Summer Evenings in Lavender: my favourite nail shade of the moment!

15Aug11

Whilst blue, (think cobalt and denim), is the colour for Autumn as seen on runway eyes and nails at Paris Fashion Week, for me its just a little too dark, a little too moody for these summery, sunny days we’ve been having of late.

Wearing a dark metallic indigo a la Dior, would be like kissing goodbye to Summer and preparing to welcome in the cold nights and leaf-strewn streets of Autumn that lie ahead (plus I can’t bear thinking that our Summer is almost over…).

So when the lovely Maria, my BFF who runs Soho’s best kept secret, and whose nails are always coated to perfection in the season’s latest shade, bought me a bottle of Wink – a lovely lavender hue – by Illamasqua, I couldn’t wait to try it out.

For those of you who havent heard of the brand, Illlamsaqua is the latest in bold, bright edgy colours, (*think older sister of Urban Decay*). Launched in London in 2008, their makeup range caters for your alter ego and in three years has achieved cult status, so that it is now sold in almost 100 stores globally.

Wink, by Illamasqua, is a stunning pale lavender that is not so dark  it looks inky, and not so pastelly that it makes your skin look washed out; it’s a perfect creamy lavender that looks fabulous on summer, sunkissed skin. Two coats give an incredibly shiny opaque finish that make my nails look good enough to eat.

Wink by Illamasqua £13 available at Selfridges and Debenhams
